Acuity Hospital of South Texas Announces Grand Opening of New Downtown San Antonio Facility
San Antonio, TX -- AcuityHealthcare, LP, a privately held company specializing in Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) specialty hospitals, announced today that its San Antonio facility, Acuity Hospital of South Texas, will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new downtown location on February 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the ribboncutting, attendees are invited to go on a guided tour of the facility.
In moving from its current, original location in South Texas Medical Center (where it has operated since 1994) to downtown San Antonio, Acuity hopes to provide patients with more state of the art facilities and equipment. Acuity also hopes that the new location will make the hospital more accessible to patients, families and physicians throughout San Antonio and South Texas. Acuity acquired the hospital in July of 2008.
The new hospital is a three-story, 34,000 square foot LTAC facility located at 718 Lexington Ave in San Antonio. It will operate 30 private rooms, including a 6-bed High Observation Unit (HOU). The facility also features a new, state of the art cardiac monitoring system throughout the hospital and a fully equipped on-call room to allow attending physicians to stay overnight, as needed. Other services will include radiology, laboratory, rehabilitation services, cardiac and telemetry monitoring, case management, nutrition services, critical care nursing, respiratory therapy and clinical pharmacy. The hospital will also provide specialized programs in pulmonary disease, wound care and the treatment of high acuity, medically complex patients.
The hospital will offer specialized care through an interdisciplinary approach to patients with serious, medically complex problems that require intensive hospitalization for an extended period of time. What's more, clinical leaders will office on patient floors, making them more accessible to patients, families and physicians.
Acuity's downtown move will create 90 new full-time jobs.
